From Doubt to Belief: How I Unravelled the Magic Behind Manifesting

manifestation

I recently attended an event where the topic of manifestation took centre stage in our discussions. To be perfectly honest, I was taken aback by the sheer diversity of perspectives and interpretations that people held on this subject. The discussion blew my mind because I had forgotten how I once saw manifesting compared to how I see it now.

Today I’m taking you on a journey into my personal experiences and insights regarding manifestation and how I unravelled the magic behind it. It's a cornerstone of my business, something I teach my clients to help them transform their financial objectives into reality. My personal journey with manifestation began when I was just 17, as I started noticing those serendipitous moments where my desires seemed to materialize out of thin air. In my early twenties, I intentionally crafted the outcomes I wanted, even though I didn't realize it was called "Manifesting" until my late twenties when I was introduced to 'The Secret'.

Since then, I've delved into the Law of Attraction, Manifesting, the Law of Assumption, and Deliberate Creation. As I continued on my personal journey, my perspective on manifesting shifted based on my experiences and what rang true for me.

In this blog post, I'm going to demystify manifesting and touch on five points of contention that surfaced during that passionate weekend discussion, as there seems to be a lot of confusion and doubt surrounding the question of whether manifesting is real and what’s required to get it to work for you. Let's dive right in.

What Manifesting Truly Is

For me, manifesting is all about bringing your goals and desires to fruition. It's the art of seeing your vision become a tangible reality in your life. Whether it's the intentional achievement of a goal or even a vividly imagined argument that mysteriously plays out exactly as you envisioned it, it's all about how your thoughts and emotions breathe life into these experiences.

Here's the kicker: you're in a constant state of manifestation. You're wired to energetically interact with the electromagnetic field that surrounds you, and your feelings are the broadcast signal for your intentions to the quantum field, where they can materialize. It's not about finding some secret technique or hoping for a genie in a lamp to grant your wishes. As I continued on my personal journey, my perspective on manifesting shifted based on my experiences and what rang true for me. One of the key moments was realizing that I had unconsciously manifested situations, experiences, and outcomes I didn't want, and I had to take ownership of that.

I used to dismiss the idea that I had manifested bad and traumatic experiences in my life. It seemed illogical. Why would anyone welcome such negativity? It wasn't until I delved deeper into the energetic aspects that I began to understand how our inner landscape shapes our external reality.

Once you grasp that you've been manifesting all along, consciously or not, and you take responsibility for creating every aspect of your life, you gain the power to be aware of your subtle thoughts and feelings. This awareness allows you to stop unconsciously manifesting situations, experiences, and outcomes that you'd rather avoid and be a masterful creator of your reality.

This is a common point of contention though. Most people don’t believe they’re responsible for the great and memorable moments as well as bad and traumatic experiences. It seems illogical to think that anyone would willingly bring such negativity into their lives. I used to share this perspective; I believed that if someone upset me, it was entirely their issue, not mine. "Some people are just jerks, and I don't need to change; they do," was my mantra. It made perfect sense – if no one did anything to upset or annoy me, I'd be happy all the time, right?

Well, here's where it gets intriguing. Your experiences are created from an energetic place before they materialize. We perceive less than 1% of our physical environment, only the spectrum of light within the electromagnetic field. The remaining 99% of your environment is beyond your conscious awareness. You possess an energy body and system that perpetually communicates with your surroundings, projecting your beliefs, emotions and perceptions while acting as a filter. As you change your inner landscape, the external world changes in response.

Raising Your Vibration for Manifestation

Now, let's address the misconception that you must raise your vibration to manifest something. Truth is, you're always manifesting, whether you're in a fantastic mood or not. Your current emotional state shapes the emotions you'll experience when your desires manifest. In simple terms, if you want to be happier and enjoy life more in the future, you must cultivate those feelings today.

Let me illustrate with a personal story. During my banking days, I was bored despite achieving all my career goals and a hefty paycheck. So, I decided to manifest a new job, one with a higher salary and less workload. My vision was somewhat vague, but it happened exactly as I had imagined – I was headhunted by a competitor, and received a role with a higher salary, with one-third of my previous workload. Yet, the boredom persisted because I had manifested it from that energy and received more of it.

The same principle applies to anything you wish to achieve. If you manifest from a place of scarcity and inadequacy, your circumstances will align to maintain those feelings. You might win the lottery but then face situations that lead to financial mishaps. The universe orchestrates events to match the energy you've associated with your desire because that’s what you’ve chosen. Even if you don’t realise that’s what you’re doing, you’re accidentally manifesting more chaos.

Intuition v’s Manifestation

I remember the day I wondered whether I had manifested something or if my psychic abilities foretold what was going to unfold. I was in my kitchen having a cup of coffee and my dog Lulu was probably wrestling with her basket under the coffee table, as she loved to do. I remember the thought cycle I went through because I really wanted a ten-thousand-dollar pay rise and I had been manifesting that in my own unorthodox way. I got the pay rise I wanted and a promotion six months into my new role, which I didn’t see coming, and I wondered if I had simply perceived it.

I felt into what intuitive insight feels like for me when I know that something is going to happen. For me, I have a full range of Clair abilities and claircognizance, clairsentience, and clairempathy in addition to clairvoyance and occasionally clairaudience, clairgustance and clairalience is felt very strongly in my body.

Once I was on a date and we were in a bar that we had been to hundreds of times. This one night, just as we sat down with our drinks I got an overwhelming feeling to leave. Immediately. Not in 5 minutes, but right away. It was as if an internal force had taken the lead. The next day, on news I learned that 5 Molotov cocktails were thrown into the bar we were in just 10 minutes after we left.

Manifesting feels nothing like that for me. This 10K pay rise was something I decided I needed because I had taken a pay cut for this role and was finding it really stressful juggling money. I wanted that little bit of extra breathing space to pay off my credit card and still be able to have a social life. I decided that an extra ten thousand dollars would be enough for me to do that.

Manifesting it came from a very clear decision about what I wanted and how it would impact my life and I went about creating it and then exactly what I wanted showed up. Surely if I had perceived it I would have been able to perceive that I would get a promotion.

The promotion wasn’t on my radar, it came about because I didn’t focus on how I was receiving an additional 10Kpa, the universe opened up a pathway for that. This is how co-creation works; some things are up to you and other parts of the manifesting process are up to the universe to orchestrate and delivery on your behalf.

What I love playing with now to test this theory out is to go and see a psychic or clairvoyant tarot reader. Because I manifest my reality and clear limiting beliefs, karmic imprints, patterns, mental chatter and heavy emotions that are in the way of me receiving in the highest expression possible, these readings become manifestation confirmations.

I can’t remember the last time I was amazed or surprised by a psychic reading. The reason for this that makes the most sense to me is that I have energetically placed events into my future that people with psychic abilities are able to perceive. They’re perceiving the energy of my creations and confirming ‘Hey this is what’s going to happen six months from now’ and my internal reaction is ‘Yeah, I know. I created it.’

I will say too that most psychics I have been to will tell me that I am psychic and they don’t understand why I’m there because they sense that I already know what’s happening. When I explained that I wanted the reading to confirm what I’ve been manifesting and to see if I have any blind spots/ challenges that I haven’t accounted for, that’s when they understood why I wanted their support.

And I have to say too, this works with the pick-a-card tarot readings on YouTube too. I can pick different readings from different channels and receive the same message. It’s a fun way to confirm manifestations for me. Test it out for yourself if you wish but remember that the readings are general and not everything is going to be relevant for you. And if you receive a reading from any psychic that you don’t like and you feel like you don’t have anything to look forward to, remember that the pendulum is always swinging and if you don’t like the path you’re on, change your inner landscape and start a new path.

Fate v’s Manifestation

One topic at the event was fate; our host believed that everything was fated. I was in my seat listening because I had wondered about this previously too and I had so many thoughts racing away and a ‘yeah but’ for almost everything around the subject of fate.

I don’t think there are any hard and fast rules on fate itself and I do think this is a very personal interpretation for many people. So my two cents on the destiny and fate paradox is based on what feels right for me, based on my experiences and conversations with people over the years.

I have a dear friend who described it as some key events are fated but how you get there and what you do afterwards is about choice. I like this because I believe in the concept of freewill where I have absolute seniority over my life and can choose what I want to experience. There may be soul contracts, life lessons, karma from past lives and family lineage that are in place in my energy field but I still have the choice to change my mind and clear energies and imprints from my field to create what I prefer instead.

Is it fated that I am headstrong, determined and committed to overcoming obstacles in my way to live my best life and teach others how to do the same? I don’t know, maybe. Maybe it’s one of those key life markers and I choose how I am going to get there and manifest an easier path for myself.

All I know is that I have a choice and can flex my freewill. The concept of fate feels disempowering to me and doesn’t feel like I can consciously create my reality and the experiences I want to have. The concept of fate makes this feel like there are invisible limits that are going to cap my desires at some stage regardless of what I choose. It doesn’t feel right for me. I believe I am a limitless creator being having a physical experience and I can veto my reality in all ways. That feels better for me because that’s what I’ve been doing for two decades and I will continue to ‘creator-fest’ for the rest of my life.

Giving to Receive

Now, about the idea that you have to give something to receive something – this notion isn't entirely true. There's an energy exchange in giving and receiving, sometimes referred to as the Law of Giving and Receiving. I first came across this concept through Bob Proctor, who described it as the Law of Receiving and the first law of creation. It boils down to this: to receive, you must give.

You don't have to give material things to receive material things though. You can give your time, love, attention, compassion, and support, and you'll be in the energy of reciprocity, ready to receive. One common pitfall is seeing yourself as a perpetual giver. Giving too much without receiving in return often leads to resentment and an unwillingness to give. If you stop giving you cannot receive.

So let’s clear up another element to this so you start receiving more from all places. It’s limiting to expect that the person you've given to will return the favour. Here's a personal example: I once helped an elderly woman to her car when she was struggling with her shopping trolley. She was grateful, but I didn't expect her to reciprocate the favour or give me anything in return. Not everyone is in a position to give back to you the way you have to them. Instead, I believe in giving freely when I can and expecting my generosity will return to me tenfold, from any source and in any form.

If you lack money or material possessions to give, share your time, gifts, kindness, humour, or whatever you’re able to. Take note of how often you do this and watch as your cosmic account fills up with goodwill, waiting for the right moment to return your generosity to you in many forms.

Clearing Limiting Beliefs

Finally, there’s the idea that you must clear limiting beliefs to manifest what you want. This isn’t true. You can manifest anything, anytime. When you do it with limiting beliefs in place though your manifestations become inconsistent, hit-and-miss, and you receive what you want but it’s not quite right in some way. I refer to manifesting with limiting beliefs in place as Alanis Morrisette-style creations because it reminds me of her song ‘Isn’t it Ironic’ and I'll let her lyrics explain why:

“An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?”

Alanis Morissette's lyrics capture the irony of manifesting with limiting beliefs in place perfectly! It can be a rollercoaster!

While you have limiting beliefs, doubts, fears, and energetic blocks in place, you've likely experienced those frustrating, inconsistent outcomes. Like finally getting your dream car, only to have it break down the following week, or purchasing a luxury boat, only to find it resting at the bottom of the marina – this, unfortunately, happened to my neighbour yesterday.

But here's the key: Clearing limiting beliefs leads to fewer distortions in your energy field and fewer "Alanis Morissette-style manifestations" to experience.  This means that you prevent things going wrong and when nothing unexpectedly derails in your life, you'll discover that you're happier by default. You'll naturally raise your vibration, finding yourself in that sweet spot.

This is where manifestation becomes effortless, a seamless flow rather than a laborious process. Things start materializing faster because there are fewer filters and energetic criteria for your manifestations to navigate before reaching you.

Now, I must confess that clearing limiting beliefs wasn't something I thought was necessary once upon a time. I believed I could manifest whatever I desired until I couldn't. The moment I found myself embroiled in litigation with my sister over my father's estate was a stark realization. I knew, without a doubt, that I hadn't manifested this situation on any level.

As I lived each day deliberately creating my reality, litigation blindsided me. It became clear that my beliefs and karmic imprints had woven distortions into my perception of reality. These distortions limited what I believed was possible for me, especially in my role as a beneficiary to the estate.

One of those limiting beliefs stemmed from the idea that I had to work tirelessly for money, making it difficult for me to accept money in the form of an inheritance because it wasn’t earned. Childhood memories of my sister taking my toys, combined with a recurring family pattern where children didn't receive their 'fair share' of inheritance, were among some of the cracks in my reality that allowed this situation to unfold.

Determined to resolve the situation, I cleared these energetic distortions from my field every day. I envisioned, designed and manifested the outcomes I wanted to see and alchemized a path to them. Remarkably within three months, litigation was resolved, and fair outcomes were achieved for all parties involved, aligning perfectly with my father's wishes – precisely what I had manifested.

The beauty of dissolving these distortions from your energy field lies in the fact that you seal those cracks, ensuring that nothing can manifest except for what you desire and expect.
